Welcome to the Alaska State Society

We are a group of more than 300 Alaskans and friends of Alaska living in the Washington, DC area.

Many of us came to Washington to work in the government or military; some to attend school; others found jobs in companies and organizations with Alaska ties, and still others followed love interests or other pursuits that led them to DC.

Regardless of how we got here, we all make a point of getting together several times a year to party Alaska-style.

If you're from Alaska and living in the area, email us to become a member!

AKSS Summer Happy Hour and Ice Cream Event

It is a well known fact that Alaskans eat more ice cream per capita than residents of any other state. With scorching days like these in Washington, its pretty clear that we could all use some rocky road, Neapolitan, or even just plain vanilla. So join the Alaska State Society for a happy hour featuring food, drink, and ice cream with a great rooftop view.

Where: 444 N. Capitol St, NW (the Hall of States rooftop)
When: Thursday, July 28 from 5:30 to 8pm

This event is being sponsored by our Alaskan friends at BlueWater Strategies, and we couldn't do it without them!

It should be warm next week - but a bit cooler. In case of rain, the event will go on with an inside location in the same building, because we know you will enjoy ice cream no matter the weather outside.

See you all next week!
